The Snowdrop Fairy
Deep sleeps the Winter,
Cold, wet, and grey;
Surely all the world is dead;
Spring is far away.
Wait! the world shall waken;
It is not dead, for lo,
The Fair Maids of February
Stand in the snow!— Cicely Mary Barker
Happy New Year to you all!
Cicely Mary Barker is right in her poem above – snowdrops do give us hope. Wonderfully I spotted an abundance of them on the roadside over the holidays. I knew Spring was on its way. Perhaps it’s closer than we think…
But before we give up on Winter altogether, here are some of our favourite picture books to help you embrace the season as you snuggle by the fire or pass time on a bus.
Happy Winter Reading!
