Half term is now under way here in the UK, which might mean more time for reading to the kids.
If you have been reading my posts for any length of time, you will know I love books – in particular children’s literature – good books, living stories, beautiful illustrations. One way this plays out in our family life is that I aim to read aloud to the children every day. Yes they can read independently, but there is something special about us all being curled up on the sofa and being taken to another land together and meeting friends, both old and new, as we turn the pages.
Previously I’ve written about what reading aloud looks like in our house with a 9, 7 and 3 year old. But for now I thought I’d share some of our favourite books that I’ve read to them over the last couple of years. Often I choose them partly because we already have copies sitting on the shelf from my own childhood, and partly because I want to enjoy revisiting these particular ones myself!
What stories have your family enjoyed reading together?
